Simple Strategies for Incorporating Gamification into Your Kajabi Courses

In this post, we summarise how to gamify your online courses if you are using Kajabi.

Some other posts we have written give you background information about gamification in general and tips on improving student engagement.

Several Great Ways To Use Gamification With the Kajabi Platform

Here we go...

  1. Use badges and points: Create a system of badges and points that students can earn as they progress through their course. This can be done by setting up quizzes, assignments, or other interactive activities that students must complete to earn points. You can use Kajabi's new community product (formerly Vibely) or one of the few themes developed specifically with badges. By setting up offers in Kajabi, you can assign points and badges to key progress points or actions taken by the student. These actions trigger automation, granting the student points or awards.

  2. Create leaderboards: Set up leaderboards that show students where they rank compared to their peers. This can be done by creating a system that tracks student progress and automatically updates the leaderboard, which is one of the features of the Kajabi Community product.

  3. Use interactive elements, such as videos, quizzes, and games: These make the course more engaging and interactive. This can be done by adding these elements to the course content or creating standalone activities that students must complete. Kajabi does not use interactive videos currently, but you can embed these from other apps. Please look at our post on Using Quizzes and Other Interactive Assets in Your Online Courses for more information about embedding interactive assets in your Kajabi courses. There is a step-by-step guide on how to do this.

  4. Use progress tracking: As standard, Kajabi allows progress tracking so that students can see how far they have progressed through the course and what they need to do next. But make sure your students know how this tracking works and where they can find their progress details.

  5. Create challenges: Create challenges that students must complete to unlock new content or move on to the next level. This can be done by creating quizzes, assignments, or other interactive activities that students must complete to unlock new content. Challenges are on of the key features of Kajabi's Community product.

  6. Use rewards: Offer rewards such as badges, points, or certificates to students who complete the course. This can be done by creating a system that automatically rewards students who complete the course. Whilst you can trigger simple certificates within Kajabi by using Zapier, we prefer to use Jotform and embed their forms into our courses. This way, we can personalise the certificates, send them out and protect the reuse of the form by having one-time use only. This protects the form from being used repeatedly to give others a free certificate.

  7. Allow peer-to-peer interactions: Allow students to interact with each other within the course. This can be done by creating forums, chat rooms, or other interactive elements within the course.

Using these gamification techniques, you can make your course more engaging and interactive for your students. Additionally, Kajabi provides you with a variety of tools and features that you can use to implement gamification, such as quizzes, badges, and progress tracking.
