The Cutting Room

Here is your opportunity to post images and to share with others ‘customer’ relevant subjects.

The Cutting Room is our gallery area where we either post images ourselves or we host images provide by our followers and fans. In particular The Cutting Room is the home for our exhibition of images that you have posted on our ‘paper shoes’. Each of these shoes is hand crafted and takes around 30 minutes to print, cut and assemble. No mass production here. We hope you find the images interesting, informative and inspiring.

If you’d like to submit your own images then please do so here. Your images may not appear immediately as we’ll need to approve your post first to avoid any spammers that might creep in.

What to do with your paper shoes…

People receive our paper shoes through various routes – by attending a workshop, as a promotional gift, as a reward, at a conference, at a meeting we have. How you get one doesn’t really matter. What does matter is what you do with yours.

The shoe represents the essence of a great customer experience, of putting yourself in the customer’s shoes, of understanding how it must feel for the customer to interact with your organisation at each moment of truth. After all only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches.

So we hope you use your shoe with this in mind. Here are some suggestions to get you started:

  • Place the shoe on your desk as a permanent reminder of how important it is to understand how it feels to be one of your customers
  • Take your shoe to a team meeting and place it somewhere central for all to see so that during your discussions you remember to review your decisions from the customer’s perspective.
  • Use it as a reward for employees who go the extra mile for their customers or co-workers.
  • Take it with you to a meeting with a customer and use it to emphasise how you want to see things from their perspective.
  • Make a video clip of your shoe being used in some creative way and publish it on YouTube
  • Take photos of your shoe and publish them on your blog with a story on something you have done for your customers recently.
  • Using it during performance reviews, coaching sessions and training courses as a prompt to talk about the customer experience.
  • Use it to start discussions about your customer and employee experiences.
  • During a recruitment interview use it to prompt a discussion about how important the customer experience is for your organisation.
